A Canonsburg woman suspected of stealing items from the vehicles of mourners inside of a West Pike Street church for a funeral Mass was arraigned Friday on theft and other charges.

Sabrina Hancock, 30, of 124 W. Pike St., was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on four counts of theft from a motor vehicle and one count each of theft, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license and illegal sale of a firearm.

The vehicles were parked along West Pike in front of St. Patrick Church while people were attending Monday morning’s funeral Mass. One of the mourners discovered a bag was missing from his vehicle. Others then discovered items stolen from their vehicles.

Among the stolen items was a 9 mm handgun Hancock told police she sold. Other items stolen included a GoPro camera, wallet, two pairs of sunglasses valued at $250 each, a cellphone and global-positioning system.

Mark set bond on Hancock, who was taken into custody Tuesday and placed in Washington County jail on a probation detainer, at $25,000. She is scheduled for a Sept. 18 preliminary hearing before Mark.
