BUFFALO
Fugitive nabbed: David Lawrence Bandy, 27, of Jordanto, Texas, was taken into custody Sunday night by state police as a fugitive from justice after a crash in the 3600 block of Route 40, Buffalo. Police determined Bandy was wanted on a felony warrant in Barbour County, W.Va. Bandy was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward as a fugitive from justice and placed in Washington County jail without bond pending extradition to West Virginia.
COKEBURG
Burglary reported: A resident of 121 Lincoln St., Cokeburg, told state police Friday the house was burglarized and a box of pictures was stolen. A basement door at the rear of the house had been forced open. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
NEW EAGLE
Endangerment, assault charges: David Paul Stablein, 52, of 417 Carrol St., New Eagle, was arrested by Monongahela police on charges of reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment stemming from an incident at their home Sunday night. He is accused of assaulting his girlfriend after he tried to push her down a flight of stairs. He also allegedly pushed her into a wall, pulled her hair and tried to hit her head off the bathroom sink. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and released from Washington County jail after posting $25,000 bond.
NORTH STRABANE
Disorderly, threats arrest: Nicholas Alexander Vanazi, 36, of Prarieville, La., was arrested Sunday night by North Strabane police after he allegedly pulled a pocket knife out of his pants, placed it on the bar at Primanti Brothers, 400 Adios Drive, before standing up and saying he was going to get a gun. Vanazi, who was apprehended in the parking lot, reportedly became belligerent after he was told several times he was trying to use his hotel key to pay his bill. Police said he was highly intoxicated. Vanazi was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of terroristic threats, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was released from Washington County jail after posting $1,000 bond.
WASHINGTON
Arrested on gun charges: Ali Jalil Abdul-Hamid, 33, of 525 Fayette St., Washington, was arrested Monday morning by Washington police on charges of persons not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license and traffic violations stemming from a traffic stop at Fayette Street and Canton Street after he failed to stop his motorcycle at a stop sign. He allowed police to look inside a backpack he was carrying. The officer found a handgun. Police said he has no gun permit and also has a felony conviction in Maryland. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Faces drug charges: Elijah Gordon, 21, of Washington, will be charged by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after he allegedly had the items during a traffic stop Saturday at East Hallam Avenue and Locust Street.
Woman assaulted: A 42-year-old homeless woman told Washington police Sunday she was assaulted by a 51-year-old man inside an apartment at 984 Jefferson Ave. He reportedly assaulted her after she punched him. She was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. Charges are pending against her attacker.
Debit card stolen: Richard Brandon, 221 S. College St., told Washington police Sunday his debit card was stolen and used to withdraw $50.
Fugitive arrest: Roger Russell, 52, of 1255 Allison Ave., Washington, was taken into custody Saturday by Washington police as a fugitive from justice. Police said he is wanted in North Dakota. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail without bond pending extradition.
Wallet stolen: Russell Lyle, 846 Ewing St., told Washington police Saturday his wallet which contained debit and credit cards was stolen from the center console of his vehicle.
Bicycle, bag stolen: Zachary Gentile of Washington told Washington police Friday his black Mongoose bicycle and a book bag he had on it were stolen from outside Walgreens, 99 Jefferson Ave. He told police a Chromebook and textbook were in the bag. Store surveillance shows a black man wearing a tank top and shorts ride off on the bicycle carrying the bag.
Unauthorized checks: The owner of Kryptonite Energy, 728 Henderson Ave., told Washington police Friday he discovered there were multiple unauthorized checks totaling $13,980 from his company. The bank was able to stop them before there was a payout. The bank and police are investigating.
Tires slashed: Holly Boothby, 705 Allison Ave., and Bernard Crumrine, 9 Montgomery Ave., told Washington police Friday tires were slashed on their respective vehicles.
