Waynesburg Family Dollar robbed
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Sunday evening at Family Dollar, 175 W. High St.
A white man about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes entered the store at 8:18 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, according to Waynesburg Patrolman Tom Ankrom.
The man, who gripped the hood on the sweatshirt tightly, attempting to cover his face, held a large knife on one of the two clerks at the front of the store. “He demanded money and said give it to me or I’ll kill you,” Ankrom said.
The man moved behind the counter and removed the money drawer. He fled with the drawer containing an undisclosed amount of cash, Ankrom said. Police believe the man left the area in a vehicle that was parked in the lot next to the store.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Waynesburg police.
