The drivers of two of the vehicles involved in a Sept. 6 accident on Interstate 79 in North Strabane Township that killed a Canonsburg woman were identified by state police in Washington.

Esther Bernice Davis, 59, was killed in the three-vehicle crash.

The drivers of the two other vehicles involved in the 4:30 p.m. crash were Marc Gomez, 48, of San Antonio, Texas, and Kerstin Atzler, 40, of Washington.

According to state police, a southbound pickup truck driven by Gomez crossed the interstate median, where an SUV driven by Atzler hit the bed of the pickup. The truck proceeded to collide head-on with a sedan driven by Davis, who died at the scene.

Gomez was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, and Atzler was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
