Institute plans in-depth course on zoning
The Local Government Academy of Pittsburgh has scheduled the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute’s three-session “nuts and bolts” zoning course for October and November.
The four-hour sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. Mondays Oct. 22 and 29 and Nov. 5 at the Community College of Allegheny County, West Hills Center, Room S306, 1000 McKee Road, Oakdale.
Drafting, amending, administering and monitoring zoning ordinances will be covered in addition to the history of zoning in the United States and how it is currently applied in Pennsylvania.
Also included in the course are problem-solving, ethics and advanced techniques such as overlay and performance zoning, planned residential development and comprehensive planning.
The course, which costs $95, also provides continuing education credits for attendees who apply.
