DEEMSTON

Wanted in theft: State police have obtained a warrant from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson for the arrest of Lawrence Roy Filby, 51, of 17 Howes Lane, Fredericktown, on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and traffic violations. He is accused of stealing manhole covers, grates and other scrap metal from Neiswonger Construction, Deemston, Aug. 15.

NORTH FRANKLIN

Theft arrest: Shawn Eugene Rogers, 42, of 685 ½ Maryland Ave., Washington, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of felony retail theft and driving under suspension filed by state police. Rogers is accused of trying to steal power tools valued at $1,086.81 Sept. 6 from Rural King, Washington Crown Center. An employee tried to stop him, but Rogers allegedly knocked over fencing to block him. Police said Rogers tried to pick up the tools he had dropped before climbing over a fence and fleeing in a van. Rogers was released after posting $500 of a $5,000 percentage bond.

Necklace theft charge: Tyree Lajhuan Higgins, 21, of Southfield, Mich., was charged Thursday by North Franklin police with felony retail theft. He is accused of stealing a yellow gold chain valued at $1,899 from Kay Jewelers, Washington Crown Center, Monday. Police said he cut the tag off and put it around his neck after acting as though he was paying for it with a credit card. He then left the store, according to police. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

WASHINGTON

Burglary reported: Raynor Nelson of 470 Donnan Ave. told Washington police Thursday that stereo equipment valued at $3,600 was stolen from his garage. He also found his television broken in the alley.

WEST PIKE RUN

Drug warrant: James T. Michaux, 52, of 28 Circle St., Daisytown, is wanted on a warrant obtained by the Washington County Drug Task Force from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. A search warrant signed by Judge Valarie Costanzo was served at his home May 10. Detectives said he was trying to throw items down a vent when he was taken into custody. Recovered during the search of the house were marijuana, several bags of crack, a cellphone and money, police said.
