Hearing to be held Wednesday on Greene County CDBG application
A public hearing will be held Wednesday on the proposed 2018 Community Development Block Grant application for Greene County and the three municipalities eligible for CDBG funding: Cumberland and Franklin townships and Waynesburg Borough.
The public hearing, the second of two hearings, will be held immediately following the Greene County commissioners’ agenda meeting at 10 a.m. in the Greene County Office Building.
The county prepares a single application for it and all CDBG-eligible municipalities. The application lists total funding of $549,714. Of that, the county’s share is $185,163; Franklin’s share is $98,423; Cumberland’s share is $93,241, and Waynesburg’s share is $73,940.
The county’s allocation, which is used in non-entitled communities, is proposed to be used for a water line extension along Mt. Morris Road in Whiteley Township.
Franklin’s grant is proposed to be used for a water line extension on Whites Ridge Road; Cumberland’s grant is proposed to be used to repair a retaining wall on Wood Lane Alley in Nemacolin; and Waynesburg’s grant is proposed to be used for sewerage rehabilitation.
Comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Those unable to attend the hearing can submit written comments to Crystal Simmons, manager of Greene County CDBG Program, 93 E. High St., Suite 210, Waynesburg, PA 15370, or by calling 724-852-5260.
The application must be approved by the county and municipalities by Nov. 2, the deadline for its submission.
