CALIFORNIA
Assault alleged: Sabrina Cullen, 33, of 327 Fifth St., California, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment by borough police. According to the criminal complaint, on Sunday evening at a residence on Fifth Street, Cullen slashed the victim in the left forearm with a knife. Court papers state Cullen was intoxicated and also slashed the couch while saying, “This is what I want to do to you.” Cullen was arrested and incarcerated in the Washington County Jail. She was arraigned Monday morning by District Judge Jesse Pettit, who set bond at $10,000.
CANONSBURG
Theft: Borough police are investigating a theft that occurred Jan. 7 at a rental property on Franklin Avenue. The victim of the theft contacted police March 29 and reported that $3,500 worth of equipment was stolen from the residence. According to police, the victim said there was no sign of forced entry and that he believed there were several contractors working on the residence who could have made a duplicate key.
CHARLEROI
Assault alleged: David Knox, 27, of 123 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment over allegations he pushed Donna Roman out a door to his residence, causing her to strike and cut her head about 11:30 p.m. Friday. He is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
MT. PLEASANT
Rollover crash: Fort Cherry Road closed for about an hour Monday morning after icy conditions caused a vehicle to roll onto its side between Fort Cherry Junior/Senior High School and Primrose Road. According to Mt. Pleasant Fire Department Lt. Ted Wolford, there were no injuries.
ROSTRAVER
Assault alleged: Mark Anthony Johnson, 49, of 243 Frick St., Luzerne Township, is charged by Rostraver police with simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment, court records show. Police accuse Johnson of punching Angela Lamdman in the head while she was driving on Rostraver Road early Monday. A senior district judge signed a warrant for Johnson’s arrest.
WASHINGTON
Inmate escape: Eric Ryan Huweart, 21, of 3305 South Ridge Road, Coal Center, was charged with escape by the city police. According to the criminal complaint, Huweart was incarcerated in the Washington County jail after his parole was revoked. He was out of the jail on work release Feb. 8 and was to return the following day. Court papers state he did not return until Feb. 10.
Inmate escape: Bobbie Jo Yerkey, 35, of 84 W. Wheeling St., Washington, was charged with escape by city police. According to the criminal complaint, Yerkey was incarcerated in Washington County Jail after her parole was revoked. She was out of the jail on work release Oct. 13, 2018, and was supposed to return that same day. Court papers state she failed to do so, and was eventually arrested Jan. 10.
Welfare fraud charges: Cody Allen Mellars and Shanta Key, both of 505 Allison Ave., Washington, were charged with welfare fraud by the office of the inspector general for allegedly making false statements. According to the criminal complaint, Mellars failed to report Key’s employment when applying for benefits. The pair illegally received $3,694 in SNAP benefits, court papers state.
