CANONSBURG

Drug charges: Frederick William Markovitz, 35, of 24 Walnut St., Ellsworth, was charged Monday with possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance by state police. According to the criminal complaint, Markovitz sold approximately seven grams of cocaine on Jan. 12, 2017. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 7 before District Judge David Mark.

HOPEWELL

Cash stolen: More than $2,800 was stolen from a pickup truck belonging to AP Metal Sales, 3810 Jefferson Ave., while it was parked at the business. Police said the theft occurred between Jan. 18 and Jan. 19. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police Washington barracks.

SMITH

Two-vehicle crash: A 30-year-old Burgettstown man was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with non-life threatening injuries Sunday evening following a two-vehicle crash in the township. According to township police Chief Winford LaRue, the crash occurred at 9:46 p.m. on Route 18 near the intersection with Bavington Road. LaRue declined to provide the man’s name but said his vehicle pulled out from Main Street in Burgettstown and struck the driver’s side of a truck owned by Southside Transfer Services that was traveling on Route 18.

WASHINGTON

Theft: Materials worth $15,000 were reported stolen Monday from a commercial roofer at 175 Plumpton Ave. According to city police, Bryce Rush reported the materials were stolen from an empty lot he uses for storage. The stolen materials include approximately 4,000 pounds of aluminum.
