State police investigating possible arsons in Claysville
State police are seeking information on fires at two buildings in Claysville that they believe were intentionally set.
According to Trooper R. Eric Graham, suspected arsonists set fire to buildings at 2 School St. and 130 Elm St., which are next to one another.
Graham said the building on School Street was an apartment building that was being renovated into a single-family residence. A fire was set inside the building between March 25 and April 1.
The building is owned by Richard Livingood, and according to Graham, he had found that a window was broken and several power tools had been stolen when he returned to the building April 1.
“He contacted Donegal Township Police Department. They reached out to me and found a fire had been set,” Graham said.
Graham described the Elm Street building, owned by Kendall Ward, as a garage used for storage. It burned down April 3, he said.
Graham said police believe the two fires are connected, but they do not have any suspects.
“Apparently they are on foot,” Graham said. “We do actually have some video from the neighborhood that we can see a flashlight coming down the alley to these buildings.”
Graham also serves as the fire marshal for Donegal. He asked that residents “keep an eye out on the neighborhood,” and contact state police if they see anything suspicious or have information that could lead to arrests.
