Theft: A 30-year-old Rices Landing man reported to state police that sometime last week, someone stole the sound system out of his car, which was parked on Ash Alley.

Assault alleged: Michael Cain, 39, of 498 E. College St., was charged by Waynesburg police with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly fought with his wife at their residence early Saturday morning. Police said Cain allegedly slapped her in the face, grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth. The woman allegedly scratched Cain while trying to get away. Police said the woman’s eye was swollen shut, but she refused EMS treatment. Cain allegedly had a semi-automatic pistol on his person at the time, police said.
