Chartiers Township police have charged a Houston man with assaulting a woman in an incident in late March.

Jevone Naveill Hairston, 24, of North Main Street, faces a felony aggravated assault charge and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.

The assault allegedly occurred the evening of March 28, and charges were filed Wednesday morning.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victim told police the incident occurred at Hairston’s residence.

The woman claimed that Hairston started drinking alcohol at 6 p.m. and went out to get more.

According to the complaint, Hairston “flipped” when he returned and held her down with one hand while he punched her in the face and head with the other.

The complaint states that Hairston also threatened to kill the woman if she called police.

According to the complaint, the woman contacted a relative to pick her up.

The woman’s grandfather contacted police and reported that she was bleeding from her ear and possibly had a skull fracture.

She was transported to St. Clair Hospital for treatment, and police attempted to locate Hairston, but he did not answer the door at his residence.

Police then learned Hairston was on probation, and alerted a probation officer that charges would be filed against him.

Online records indicate that Hairston was arrested the following afternoon by North Strabane police. He was taken to Washington County jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 11 before District Judge David Mark.
