84 Lumber president ties the knot in Aspen
The bride wore white and was surrounded by white.
Maggie Hardy, president of 84 Lumber and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, experienced a Rocky Mountain high March 30. She and Shawn Knox were married that day in skiing hot spot Aspen, Colo. There was plenty of snow on the slopes and surrounding countryside.
Maggie, 53, has directed 84 Lumber’s rebound from the Great Recession a decade ago, which forced the country’s largest privately held building materials supplier to close a number of stores nationwide. The company, based in the Eighty Four section of North Strabane Township, has since reopened stores and experienced a steady revenue climb.
Two years ago, she made Forbes’ list of global billionaires, with a net worth of $1.3 billion.
She is the daughter of Joseph A. Hardy III, founder of 84 Lumber and Nemacolin.

Snyder award
State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, has been honored for her broad efforts on behalf of broadband service.
Snyder, D-Jefferson, recently received the broadband champion award from KINBER, a nonprofit that helps communities gain access to reliable, high-speed internet service. The honor was presented during the three-day KINBERCON 2019 conference.
“Pam Snyder is working hard to connect Pennsylvania with this needed commodity – broadband,” said Wendy Huntoon, KINBER’s chief executive officer and president. “Her leadership and focus on this issue made it easy for us to select her for the first broadband champion award.”
In February, Snyder introduced three measures related to a lack of broadband access in unserved and underserved areas of Pennsylvania.
