Pair of teenagers jailed for armed robbery
Two teenagers were jailed and charged as adults for an armed robbery that took place late Saturday night.
Damean Robert O’Regan, 16, of 29 Maple St., Ellsworth, and Haven Lawrence Brown, 17, of 505 Old West Road, Bentleyville, were charged with felonies for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, as well as several misdemeanors for theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of a weapon.
Brown received additional charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats.
Police said the incident occurred about 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
According to the complaint, after Angelo Mazzocco left work in Bentleyville, he was approached by O’Regan, a friend of his, and Brown. O’Regan asked Mazzocco for a ride back to O’Regan’s residence.
Police said that once they arrived at the Maple Street residence, Brown pointed a handgun against the back of Mazzocco’s head. Mazzocco handed over $85 and eight grams of marijuana, according to police.
Brown then got out of the car and told Mazzocco, “Leave now or I will shoot you,” according to the complaint.
Mazzocco spoke to police once he returned home. According to the complaint, police discovered a black semi-automatic handgun at O’Regan’s residence.
Both O’Regan and Brown were placed in Washington County jail and arraigned Monday morning before District Judge David Mark, who set bond at $100,000 each.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. May 8 before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
