Police across five states search for alleged jewelry thief
South Strabane Township police have filed an arrest warrant against a Columbus, Ohio, man who allegedly stole a diamond bracelet from Zales in Tanger Outlets in November.
Sgt. Kenny Torboli with South Strabane police said Skyler Johnson, 32, is wanted in several states for similar jewelry thefts. In Ohio, he’s also wanted for drugs and weapons charges, and wanted for theft across Pennsylvania and in Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
“He’s wanted for a lot more than just the jewelry, but this is the scheme that he’s conducting right now,” Torboli said.
On Nov. 20, Johnson allegedly was with another man when he went into Zales and asked to see a gold and diamond bracelet. Torboli said that when the associate put it on his wrist, Johnson ran from the store.
Torboli said Johnson allegedly committed the exact same crime at a Zales store in Hershey just two days before he allegedly stole from the store in South Strabane. Torboli was able to get Johnson’s palm print from the glass door of the store and link it to the suspect.
Though they filed an arrest warrant, Torboli said they don’t know where Johnson is now.
“We don’t have any reason to believe that he’s still in the area,” he said.
