A Hopewell Township man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl while she was visiting his home in 2016 is free on bond.

The child reported multiple instances of abuse to state police in July 2018, when she was 14. She told police that between June and September of 2016, she had been staying with Trent Nelson Talbert, 58, of 54 Wotring Road.

During that time, the alleged victim said Talbert raped her, showered with her and did other sexual things to her. The girl and another adult who lived in the home told police that Talbert would walk around the house nude in front of the child and refused to put on clothes.

The girl reportedly stayed in the home again from July 13 to 20, 2018, when Talbert allegedly abused her “at least” another four times, the complaint said. The girl told police that on July 15, he took her to Cross Creek Park, where he told her to take off her pants, before inappropriately touching her.

On July 20, the girl reportedly told Talbert, in front of the other adult, that she didn’t want another “oil rubdown.” When the other adult asked the girl what she meant, the child told her through text messages that Talbert had sexually assaulted her multiple times.

Talbert was charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child younger than 13, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent exposure and four counts of indecent assault.

Talbert was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Ethan Ward and released on a $50,000 surety bond.
