Washington man charged with strangulation
A Washington man is facing charges after allegedly choking his girlfriend Wednesday night at a residence in the 800 block of Valley View Terrace.
Neiko Hokeem Anthony Walters, 24, of 235 W. Chestnut St., allegedly became upset when the woman broke up with him about 10:15 p.m. Police said the woman and Walters have a 4-month-old son.
Walters and the woman were in a parking lot when he pushed her in the chest multiple times, causing her to fall down, according to the criminal complaint. Walters then allegedly choked her from behind.
The woman’s mother came outside and called 911, the complaint said, causing Walters to flee in his vehicle. Police have issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of strangulation and harassment.
The victim’s knees were injured and her neck was red, swollen and scratched, police said. She told police her throat hurt and that she was having trouble swallowing. She was evaluated at the scene by Canonsburg EMS.
