FRANKLIN

Fire: A detached one-story garage on the 300 block of Washington Road  was destroyed during a fire around 7:20 a.m. on Friday morning. State police called the fire an accident, having identified a heater that was set too close to flammable materials as the cause.

Burglary: State police said Columbia-brand items worth a total of $8,400 were stolen from the West Virginia University Medical Center construction site on the 400 block of Murtha Drive. Someone reportedly broke a wooden door to access the site, causing about $25 in damage. The victims were listed in a police report as Rycon Construction and Thomarios Painting and Interior, both of Pittsburgh.
