CHARLEROI – Customers of an authority in Charleroi are under a boil-water advisory until further notice after a line rupture Tuesday possibly contaminated the supply.

The Authority of the Borough of Charleroi issued the advisory the same day for its customers in limited areas in Charleroi, North Charleroi, Speers and Monessen, its website indicates,

The authority also said water buffaloes have been set up at: Speers Borough Building, 300 Phillips St.; Charleroi Fire Department, 328 Fallowfield Ave., Lock No. 4 Volunteer Fire Co., 550 Isabella Ave.; and Monessen Fire Department No. 1, 239 Donner Ave.

The water supply will tested again today and Thursday to confirm the supply does not test positive for the presence of disease-causing organisms.

The authority also said it will notify its customers when the advisory is lifted.

Chad Warfield, the authority’s director of operations, said its customers who are under the advisory should have received a message to boil water.
