W.Va. man fatally shot at Greene County home
A 23-year-old West Virginia man was fatally shot in Greene County when he reportedly went to a Monongahela Township house to help a woman collect belongings from her ex-boyfriend.
The ex-boyfriend, Anthony William King, 21, is behind bars in Greene County jail where he was denied bail and is facing criminal homicide in the death of William Lawrence Worry III.
Alicia Pressacco called 911 at about 2 a.m. saying King shot Worry at 145 Alicia Main Street near Greensboro, King’s home. State police found Worry dead in the doorway with a gunshot wound to his head. Worry, of Mannington, W.Va., and another woman went to King’s house to help Pressacco collect children’s toys, according to court documents.
King sarcastically said, “Why don’t you invite him in for some tea?” when the group arrived at the house, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Pressacco told state police she and King were in a relationship for about two years, and she previously lived with him at the house. She contacted King around midnight saying she was coming over to pick up her children’s toys. As Worry was helping Pressacco move a Barbie Dream House through the front door, King reportedly told him, “Get the (expletive) out of my house,” and shot him in the face with a shotgun, according to the affidavit.
King reportedly admitted to shooting Worry, claiming he “was afraid Worry would beat his (expletive) if he did not,” police wrote. During his interview with state police, he said he and Worry were arguing in the hallway before he shot him, court documents said.
The second woman in the home told investigators she did not see the shooting but heard a gunshot and saw King holding a shotgun. She told police she heard King say he shot Worry, court paperwork indicated.
King was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson. In addition to the criminal homicide charge, he is facing one count of aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person. His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 27 before Watson.
