Red Cross assisting victims of Waynesburg apartment fire
The American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania is assisting two adults who were left homeless from Monday night’s fire in Waynesburg that damaged an apartment complex and insurance business in the 200 block of West High Street.
The nonprofit is offering food, clothing and shelter to the two people. In total, four residents in three apartment units at 244 W. High St. were affected by the fire that began about 6:30 p.m. No one was injured, and two dogs in an upstairs apartment were rescued by firefighters.
Kalsey Insurance, a business in an adjacent building next door at 238 W. High St., sustained minor smoke damage, but was expected to reopen at the end of the week, owner Ross Kalsey said Tuesday.
The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
