Current Assistant District Attorney Patrick D. Fitch announced Tuesday his candidacy for Greene County district attorney.

A Waynesburg native, Fitch brings nearly 20 years of federal and state law enforcement experience to the chief law enforcement role.

Fitch, a former U.S. Secret Service agent, started his career as a special agent in the Philadelphia field office. There he investigated check and bank fraud criminal cases and counterfeiting crimes among others, and had a 100 percent conviction rate of suspects he arrested during that term.

Fitch subsequently received the exclusive assignment with the Presidential Protective Division in Washington, D.C. During his 10-year tenure, Fitch personally protected Presidents George W. Bush and Barack H. Obama. Fitch regularly led comprehensive teams comprised of special agents and officers, military personnel and presidential staff to ensure that the presidents were safe and secure during their travels.

“Tragically, our community, like others, has become plagued by the drug crisis and other harmful ills,” Fitch said. “As district attorney, I’ll be tough on drug dealers and will vigorously prosecute criminals. As a Secret Service Agent, I protected our American Presidents. The residents of Greene County can trust me to protect our community.”

Fitch is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is also a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Bar of the U. S. Supreme Court.

Fitch received his law degree from Ohio Northern University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Waynesburg College with a bachelor degree in public service administration.

Fitch has deep roots in the Greene County community. He served as a board member for the Greene County Historical Society and Corner Cupboard Food Bank. He is a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church and serves as Adult Acolyte and Eucharistic Minister for that parish. He is also member of the Knights of Columbus and holds the position of Deputy Grand Knight.

Fitch is the father of three teenagers, Molly, Erin and Aidan.
