Charleroi, PA, January 2, 2019 – The Mon Valley Alliance (MVA) welcomed Ben Brown to the newly created position of Director of Operations.

As director, Brown will work to bring new companies to Alta Vista and with it new jobs to the Mon Valley. He will manage key projects such as the riverfront park development and the Coyle development project. In addition, Brown will manage the day to day activities of the Mid Mon Valley Council of Governments initiative, working with its members to define priorities.

“We are excited to have Ben as a part of our team,” said Christopher Whitlatch, Chief Executive Officer of the MVA. “His real estate, development and project management experience will not only be a key asset for MVA, but be of great assistance to the communities that we serve.”

Previously, Brown was the Vice President of Real Estate for Beynon & Co, a 110+ year old Pittsburgh based commercial real estate firm.

He also held positions as a National Bank Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer with The Bank of North Georgia, and as a Broker/Owner of an Independent Real Estate office specializing in multifamily and office properties.

Brown has guest lectured at the University of Georgia and CCAC in Pittsburgh, PA. He has also served as a Council Member of East Washington Borough, as a member of the Washington-East Washington Joint Zoning and Land Development Commission and as a member of the Planning Commission of East Washington.

In 2016 &2017, Brown was named WHO’s WHO’s in Energy and in 2016 as WHO’s WHO’s in Commercial Real Estate by the Pittsburgh Business Times. Mr. Brown received dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Real Estate & Finance from the University of Georgia, a certificate from the Institute for Leadership Advancement and has completed the Federal Reserve Bank’s examiner training program specializing in Real Estate and financial analysis.
