Cheap! Cheap! Gasoline prices continue to drop

The streak has hit a dozen, as gasoline prices dropped for a 12th consecutive week in Western Pennsylvania.
A gallon of unleaded self-serve averages $2.461, down 6.4 cents from $2.525 a week ago, according to a report Thursday from AAA East Central.
Petrol is now 67.5 cents cheaper than it was 12 weeks ago, when it was $3.136. This week’s price is 30.6 cents lower than it was a year ago.
Washington’s average dropped 4.5 cents, to $2.478 – down from $2.523. The price paid in Washington ranks 13th lowest among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA.
New Castle has the lowest average ($2.231); Warren ($2.653) the highest.
Pennsylvania’s average dropped to $2.49, 26 cents cheaper than a year ago. The average price also is lower in every other state in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region, where gasoline inventory levels remained at 60 million.
The nationwide figure fell five cents to $2.25, the lowest it’s been at the beginning of the year for the past three years. Nine states average less than $2 a gallon and 29 are at or below that U.S. average.
Gas is cheapest in Missouri ($1.83 average) and highest in Hawaii ($3.34).
