Slots revenue up at Meadows, statewide for December

Gross revenue from slot machine play increased at all of the state’s 12 casinos last month, compared with December 2017, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Thursday.
The Meadows Casino, in North Strabane Township, experienced a 9.08 percent bump last month to $18,087,428.74 – about $1.5 million up from $16,581,165.94 the previous December.
Gross revenue statewide last month was $202,840,435.32, a $15.2 million – or 8.12 percent – increase over the year from $187,614,378.63.
Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Side, posted an 11.97 percent gain ($25,830,298.54 from $23,068,919.81). Percentage-wise, that was the third-largest increase across the commonwealth.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, posted a 6.17 percent gain last month ($2,294,839.19 from $2,161,417.61)..
An average of 25,442 slot machines operated statewide in December, 407 fewer than a year earlier.
Slots revenue for all of 2018 topped $2.3 billion for the eighth consecutive calendar year, the gaming control board added. Revenue for the year declined at six and increased at six gaming sites, resulting in a statewide gain of 1.44 percent ($2,369,885,203 from $2,336,212,902. That was a $33.6 million increase.
Revenue declined about $3.2 million – or 1.49 percent – at The Meadows in 2018 ($211,098,502 from $214,289,737).
Rivers posted a 4.32 percent gain ($281,405,007 from $269,751,527) over the year; Lady Luck’s revenue fell 8.24 percent ($28,264,639 from $30,145,146).
Slots play generated $1,235,872,531 in tax revenue in 2018.
