Lt. Gov. schedules special election for 37th District for Reschenthaler’s seat
Republican Guy Reschenthaler was formally sworn in late Thursday afternoon as a member of the 116th Congress at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Reschenthaler will represent the citizens of the 14th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, which includes Washington, Fayette and Greene counties, and a portion of Westmoreland County.
“It’s an honor to be sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives. I look forward to this opportunity to take our Southwestern Pennsylvania values of hard work and common sense to Congress,” Reschenthaler said in a news release.
He will be working from the Cannon House Office Building.
Reschenthaler, 35, a resident of Peters Township, graduated from Penn State’s Behrend College and Duquesne University law school.
He served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps, volunteering for service in Iraq. Prior to running for Congress, he was elected magisterial district judge in the Pleasant Hills area and most recently served as the state senator representing parts of Allegheny and Washington counties in the 37th District.
Lt. Gov. Mike Stack chose Tuesday, April 2, as a special election date in the 37th State Senatorial District from which Reschenthaler resigned Dec. 31.
The district includes Peters Township in Washington County.
