A Cecil Township man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend before spitting in her face and throwing a dirty cat litter box at her during a domestic incident Saturday at his Muse residence.

Cecil Township police responded about 12:15 p.m. to the home of Jeffrey Edward Ritenour, 33, of 212 Locust St. Police said Ritenour and his girlfriend had argued before he started screaming in her face, saying that he would kill her and “not think twice about it.”

Police said he allegedly pushed the woman into a basement door, causing the door to break into pieces. He also allegedly spit in her face.

When the woman ran upstairs to try to get away, Ritenour allegedly followed her, threw a cardboard box at her and shoved her to the floor. She continued to try to get away, but Ritenour threw a dirty cat litter box at her, police said.

Police said Ritenour fled when he knew the woman’s mother had called police. When police left the residence, they were soon called back by the woman. She told them Ritenour had called her, threatened to hurt her and was on his way back to the residence. Police said the woman was scared and wanted to obtain an emergency protection-from-abuse order.

Ritenour was arrested and arraigned Saturday evening by District Judge Joshua Kanalis. He was released on $25,000 bond.
