CHARLEROI – A Charleroi woman is wanted on charges she opened credit card accounts using the name of a bedridden woman who resides in a personal care home.
Charleroi Regional police accused Jamie Begandy, 39, of 906 Lincoln Ave, of using one of the cards to make a $100 purchase after the account was opened Aug. 31, court records show.
The cards were discovered Oct. 23 when the woman’s designated power of attorney went to her former residence in the 300 block of Fallowfield Avenue, police stated in the affidavit.
The woman with power of attorney had gone to the residence to clean it out after Begandy moved out without telling anyone while she owed back rent. Police said the residence was rented by Jamie Donofrio, which is another name Begandy allegedly uses.
The woman who acts on the victim’s behalf told police she found mail in the residence bearing evidence of bank accounts and credit cards in the victim’s name that she didn’t know existed.
Begandy is wanted on charges of identity theft and access device fraud. District Judge Larry Hopkins signed a warrant last week for her arrest.
