Cumberland man charged with reckless endangerment
A Cumberland Township man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving 94 mph in a 45-mph zone on Route 21 near Eighty Eight Road on Christmas Eve.
Richard Lee Georgiana, 49, of 403 Old Town St., Carmichaels, had multiple juveniles in the car when state police pulled him over. He told police they were running late for a family Christmas dinner, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said there was a 17-year-old in the front passenger seat of the hatchback Volkswagen, and a 15-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 48-year-old woman in the back seat. Police said they also noticed an 11-year-old boy unrestrained and hiding under a coat on someone’s lap in the back seat.
Police said Georgiana didn’t have a license with him, and the car was uninsured and uninspected.
Georgiana was charged by summons with five counts of recklessly endangering another person and 11 summary traffic offenses.
