SOMERSET
Crash: Three adults and a 1-year-old baby were each taken by ambulances to Washington Hospital with suspected minor injuries, following a crash about 5:15 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 70. State police said the road had been covered with snow due to “a sudden winter storm,” which was part of the cause of the crash. Police said the car, driven by Nakia S. King, 42, of Donora, was traveling in the left lane followed by a tractor-trailer, driven by Amarjit Singh, 40, of Indianapolis. Police said King lost control of the car, struck the center concrete barrier, and spun clockwise. The truck then struck the passenger side of her car and both vehicles traveled to the right side of the road, through a guardrail and down an embankment into a ditch, according to the police report. The truck flipped onto it’s passenger side, but Singh was able to exit uninjured. King and her front seat passenger had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to the hospital, along with her passengers, Jaron L. Porter, 29, Kimara M. King, 20, and a 1-year-old baby boy, all from Washington. Police said their injuries were all suspected to be minor. The state Department of Agriculture was notified of the crash, as the truck was hauling oranges and other produce, police said. Ellsworth, Fallowfield and Valley Inn fire departments assisted at the scene, along with Ambulance and Chair EMS, Bearcat EMS and UPMC EMS.
