Three transported following two-vehicle crash in Rostraver Township
Three people were transported to area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Route 51 in Rostraver Township, according to Westmoreland County Public Safety.
The collision happened on Route 51 south in front of Bill’s Golfland, with the emergency call following the collision coming in at 12:44 p.m., Westmoreland County Public Safety said.
According to Rostraver Township Police, the collision occurred between vehicles driven by William Hertzog of Webster and Charles Krasonic of West Newton, who had one passenger, Ethel Krasonic.
Rostraver Central Fire Department referred comment to township police but posted on Facebook that one patient was transported in trauma arrest and was extricated by firefighters. Two additional patients were transported by Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services and Mon Valley EMS, one flown to a trauma center from Rostraver Airport, the department post said. A fire had to be extinguished in one of the vehicles, the fire department added.
Township police said they were assisted on scene by state police’s accident reconstruction division, Rostraver Central Fire Department, Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services, Mon Valley EMS, PennDOT and Thompson’s Towing.
The accident is under investigation, according to township police.
