A Monongahela Township man awaiting trial on charges that he raped a preteen girl more than two years ago is now accused of sexually assaulting another girl during that time.

State police last week filed additional child rape charges against Matthew S. Perry after the second girl came forward to allege sexual abuse during the initial investigation that troopers began in June 2017.

The girl told police that Perry raped and fondled her multiple times beginning when she was 10 years old, according to court documents.

Police on Friday charged Perry with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, child endangerment, corruption of minors – all felonies – and misdemeanor indecent assault of a child.

Those charges come nearly two years after state police accused him of raping an 11-year-old girl on multiple occasions. Perry, 40, of 197 Hartley Road, was originally charged in June 2017 after the girl told investigators she was assaulted several times between the summer of 2016 and March 2017, including once in Perry’s vehicle while it was parked in a wooded area. He was arrested two months later when U.S. marshals found him hiding near a mosque in Morgantown, W.Va.

But after his arrest, he was deemed incompetent to stand trial and taken to Torrance State Hospital near Blairsville for treatment. Greene County Judge Lou Dayich signed an order last September that declared him competent to face those charges and the case was scheduled for trial earlier this year. Jury selection for that case is tentatively scheduled for March 6, although those proceedings have already been delayed multiple times due to concerns raised again about Perry’s competency.

Perry’s wife, Cheyenna, 36, pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to manufacturing child pornography that she produced with one of the girls before sending it to her husband during the two months while he was on the run from authorities. Dayich sentenced her to 3 ½ to 7 years in state prison and ordered her to register for life as a sex offender in the plea deal that requires her to testify against Matthew Perry at trial.

Matthew Perry is being held without bond at the Greene County jail. His preliminary hearing on the most recent charges is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 30 before District Judge Lee Watson.
