Canonsburg man charged with rape
A Canonsburg man is facing rape and assault charges after he allegedly raped a woman who was sleeping in a bedroom with her children in September.
State police said Charles Lester Cole III, 26, of 814 Valley View Terrace, had been drinking with the woman Sept. 20 at a Canton Township residence, before the woman left with a friend that night. She reportedly returned at 6 a.m. the next morning, and found Cole sleeping in the living room. Police said she went into a bedroom where her children were sleeping and fell asleep on the floor.
Police said the woman reported that when she woke up, her pants had been removed and Cole was raping her. Police said she hit his chest multiple times and “felt like she couldn’t talk,” according to a criminal complaint.
During an interview Dec. 11, police said Cole admitted to having sex with the victim while she was asleep.
Cole was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
