Monongahela man charged in child porn case
MONONGAHELA – A Monongahela man was arrested Thursday on charges he had child pornography photos on his computer and smartphone.
A trooper with the state police computer crime unit arrested Christopher Alan Maguda, 37, after it received information in the case from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, court records indicate.
The information came Oct. 8 from Microsoft concerning two images of child porn having been uploaded to a user’s photo-saving account that day. Microsoft then downloaded the images and gave them to investigators.
One of the photos showed a naked girl between the ages of 6 and 10 on a bed, police stated in the affidavit supporting the charges. Another photo seized in the investigation showed a girl about 8 or 10 years old having sex in a bathtub with an adult man.
The IP address assigned to the computer led investigators to Comcast. They sought a search warrant to reveal the subscriber, information that was provided Dec. 18, records show.
Investigators then performed a search of Maguda’s residence at 910 Thomas St., where they allegedly found multiple child pornography files on several devices.
He is charged with sexual abuse of children through child pornography and criminal use of communication devices.
District Judge Mark Wilson sent Maguda to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond, which he later posted, online court records indicate.
