Police: Washington woman involved in Pittsburgh carjacking, stabbing
Pittsburgh police issued a warrant for a Washington woman allegedly involved in a stabbing and carjacking in Pittsburgh early Saturday morning.
Police said Marin Elizabeth Oreski, 37, of 88 E. Maiden St., allegedly punched a man in the face, stabbed him with a screwdriver and tried to force him into the trunk of his own car after the man gave her a ride and $50.
David Legrande flagged down police about 1:47 a.m. in front of a residence at 116 Deraud St. His face was swollen and bleeding, his leg had puncture wounds and he was shoeless.
He told police that he gave Oreski, whom he had known for two years, a ride from a downtown Pittsburgh bus stop to Deraud Street. With Oreski was a man known as “Ty,” according to the criminal complaint, who was described as a black man, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 150 pounds with short black hair and a goatee.
Legrande said he gave them both a ride, and he lent Oreski $50 because she told him she was trying to get to Florida to visit her children, the complaint said.
When they got to Deraud Street, Oreski and “Ty” allegedly beat up Legrande, stabbed him in the leg multiple times with a 7-inch screwdriver, and tried, unsuccessfully, to force him into the trunk of his own car, a silver 2010 Dodge Charger with Ohio plates.
They also stole his shoes before driving away in his car, police said. According to the criminal complaint, the suspects drove past police just before Legrande was able to flag down the officers.
Police said they recovered the screwdriver on the sidewalk nearby and were able to get license plate information for the vehicle. Legrande was taken to Mercy Hospital and was reported in stable condition.
Oreski was charged with two counts of robbery of a motor vehicle and one count each of attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.
