Forged prescriptions: Erica Lynn Kovalcik, 29, of 1756 Main St., Canonsburg, was charged with obtaining possession of a controlled substance through misrepresentation, forgery, tampering with records, theft and receiving stolen property by township police last week. According to the criminal complaint, Kovalcik was an employee at McMurray Hills Manor at 249 West McMurray Road. Police said she wrote fraudulent prescriptions for patients and stole $902 worth of narcotics.

WASHINGTON

Strangulation charge: Jeremy Robert Shook, 36, of Locust Avenue, Washington, was charged with strangulation by city police Monday. According to the criminal complaint, about 2:30 a.m. Monday, Shook grabbed a woman by the throat at this residence. He was released from Washington County jail after posting a portion of his $15,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
