Brownsville woman pleads guilty in machete attack

A Brownsville woman pleaded guilty to attacking a man with a machete late last year.
Gina Marie Hall, 34, of Hunters Ridge entered pleas to simple assault and reckless endangerment charges before Fayette County Judge Steve Leskinen.
The victim, Michael Burkey, began having seizures after he was hit in the head with the machete on Oct. 15, police said. He had cuts on his head, and a large amount of blood was around his apartment. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to court documents filed by state police.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Hall threatened Burkey with the machete before attacking him.
Hall and Burkey lived in separate apartments at the Brownsville apartment complex.
In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors recommended a sentence of probation and no contact with Burkey.
A charge of aggravated assault was dismissed in lower court.
Hall is free on $75,000 unsecured bond.
