Chartiers-Houston commencement set for Friday
Chartiers-Houston High School Class of 2019 will celebrate its commencement Friday.
The 71 graduates will walk down the stage at 7 p.m. at Buccaneer Stadium.
Valedictorian Andrew L. Kowalski, son of Michael and Gayle Kowalski, will attend Pennsylvania State University’s Schreyer Honor College to study finance and information systems.
While in school, Kowalski was the president of the National Honor Society, member of the Future Business Leaders, Academic League, Mathletes Academic Club and Light, Video, Sound Club.
He is an AP Honors Scholar. He received the MarkWest Academic Excellence Award, Penn State University Schreyer Honors College Academic Excellence Scholarship and Smeal College of Business Stewart A. Stumpo Trustee Scholarship.
Salutatorian Kasey Scears is the daughter of Keven and Jamies Scears. She was secretary of the senior class, co-president of the Leo Club, and secretary of the National Honor Society and SADD. She played softball and soccer, and was a member of student government. She received the TRICADA Athletic Directors Award, Bucks for Bucs Foundation Scholarship, C-H Girls Varsity Soccer Boosters Scholarship and the Washington & Jefferson College Merit Award.
She will attend W&J in the fall to pursue an undecided major as well as play softball.
Honor graduate Josh Colletti will attend Penn State to pursue a computer science degree.
Son of Steve and Tina Colletti, he was a member of National Honor Society, National Business Honor Society and received the Friends of MarkWest Scholarship Fund ll. Colletti played baseball for three years at CHHS.
George Ashmore is also an honor graduate.
Ashmore, son of James and Becky Ashmore, plans to attend Robert Morris University to study actuarial science.
Ashmore received the Liberty Scholarship, Ben Carson Scholarship and National McDonald’s Employee Scholarship. He was a member of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Athletes Academic Club and Leo Club.
