Chicago, Washington men arrested following Thursday morning drug bust
Two men, one from Washington and one from Chicago, were arrested Thursday morning following a months-long investigation into drug trafficking in Washington.
District Attorney Gene Vittone announced the arrests of Charles Xavier Richards, 37, of South Euclid Avenue, Chicago, and Ronald James Thomas Jr., 54, of 36 ½ Murtland Ave., Washington, on Thursday.
Vittone said drug task force detectives in his office conducted two investigations, one into the trafficking of crack cocaine and heroin at 815 Broad St., and another involving Thomas’ residence.
Detectives – along with state police, Washington police and Washington County sheriff’s deputies – executed search warrants at both locations Thursday morning.
Richards was arrested at the Broad Street location, where police said they found seven ounces of crack cocaine, about 10 grams of heroin and more than $7,000 in cash.
At Thomas’ residence, authorities seized more than a brick of stamp bags of heroin and several hundred dollars, according to Vittone.
Each man faces felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, and additional misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and paraphernalia.
They were each committed to Washington County jail on $50,000 bonds. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. June 19 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
