The Mon/Yough Solar Co-op, which includes Fayette, Washington and Greene counties, is hosting two free public information sessions.

The first will be held at 6 p.m. June 10 at Uniontown Public Library, 24 Jefferson St., and the second at 6:30 p.m. June 17 at Eva K. Bowlby Public Library, 311 N. West St., Waynesburg.

Nick Seymour, communications coordinator, explained, “We want to communicate to attendees how they can access solar energy through the co-op model and how solar energy can benefit them in their home.”

Seymour said Henry McKay, Solar United Neighbors’ Pennsylvania program director, will lead the sessions, which are expected to last an hour and a half.

The co-op explained in an advisory, “The Center for Coalfield Justice, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, the Mountain Watershed Association Youghiogheny Riverkeeper program and Solar United Neighbors are co-sponsors of the co-op.”

The co-op also reported, “Solar United Neighbors supports solar co-ops across the country. These co-ops are a part of the organization’s mission to create a new energy system with rooftop solar as the cornerstone. Solar United Neighbors holds events and education programs to help people become informed solar consumers, maximize the value of their solar investment and advocate for fair solar policies.”
