Natural gas pipeline work planned for Avella area

Beginning this month, Columbia Gas plans to replace approximately 20,700 feet of underground pipeline that will affect both motorists and customers in the Avella area.
Work is expected to last through late 2019, weather permitting, and it will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the possibility of Saturday work.
Included in the project will be Avella Road, Brown Street, Browntown Road, Campbell Drive, Campbell Street, Cross Creek Road, Donahoe Street, Gardner Street, Highland Avenue, Highland Avenue Extension; Hillside Way, Independence Road, Ivy Street, Maple Avenue, Meadowcroft Road, Morningside Drive, School Court, Seneca Place, Short Street, Taylor Street, Wabash Avenue, and Wilson Avenue.
Drivers should expect temporary lane restrictions and stopped traffic during working hours.
Construction may require a temporary interruption of natural gas service for individual customers while service is transferred to the new pipe.
Columbia Gas will contact these customers prior to shutting off service and to schedule service restoration. Customers with indoor meters will also have their meters moved outdoors. This work will be completed at no additional cost to the customer.
All company and contract employees carry photo ID badges identifying them as Columbia Gas employees or contractors. Customers are encouraged to ask for ID before allowing anyone into their home, or they can call 1-888-460-4332 for Columbia Gas employee verification.
