Stolen firearm: A black pistol was stolen from an unlocked Chevrolet Silverado on Cortez Drive Monday night or Tuesday morning. There were no witnesses to the theft and state police are investigating.
HOUSTON
Insurance fraud alleged: Corey Scott McMasters, 23, and Mary Ellen Iskey, 24, both of 174 Dogwood Street, Mt. Pleasant Township, were charged with insurance fraud by the state attorney general’s office Tuesday. According to the criminal complaints, the pair attempted to submit an insurance claim to Progressive Insurance regarding a Sept. 29, 2018, accident that occurred prior to their obtaining a policy. The attempted theft involved $3,200, authorities said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 13 before District Judge David Mark.
WASHINGTON
Robbery: Two men reportedly robbed a homeless man in the 500 block of Donnan Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to a police report, the man described his assailants as two black men, and could provide only a first name of “Jamar” for one of them. He told police he was struck from behind and then assaulted by the men, who took his backpack. The backpack reportedly contained $2,500 cash, a cellphone and two gold rings.
