Nemacolin man threatens to stab woman, steals her car

A Nemacolin man is facing charges for allegedly threatening to stab a woman, assaulting her and stealing her jewelry and car.
James Turner-Lewers Bagley, 32, of 329 Grant St., Nemacolin, had allegedly stolen a white Ford Mustang belonging to Sylvia Lewers about 6:37 p.m. Saturday. Police did not say what Bagley’s and Lewers’ relationship was, but did say that they lived together.
According to the criminal complaint, Lewers had found a needle and other drug paraphernalia in her car before telling Bagley he wasn’t allowed to user the vehicle anymore. Police said that’s when Bagley threatened to stab her with a screwdriver and threw a ceramic dish at the back of her head.
Police said Lewers and Bagley’s wife, Julianna Salopek, tried to leave the residence multiple times, but Bagley wouldn’t let them. According to the criminal complaint, Bagley struck Salopek multiple times in the arm.
Lewers told police that Bagley has stolen several of her earrings, necklaces and rings, which were later found in Bagley’s possession in Lewers’ car, police said.
Bagley told police the jewelry belonged to him, since he had purchased the items for Lewers.
Bagley was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license. He was arraigned Sunday afternoon by District Judge Lee Watson and jailed on $10,000 bond.
