Large cache of drugs and weapons found in Brownsville home

Three people were arrested after state police found a large cache of guns and drugs in Snowden Terrace they believe may be connected to three shootings in the area.
Isaac Paul Michaux, 18, Dejour Rashad Thomas, 20, and a 17-year-old Hiller boy were arrested after a Special Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 430 Clover Street at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police suspected narcotics were being sold out of the apartment, Fayette County District Attorney Rich Bower said at a news conference.
Investigators found about 155 bricks of suspected heroin, half an ounce of suspected crack, 2 pounds of suspected marijuana, an AK-47 and four handguns, two of which were reported stolen, Bower said.
The heroin was equivalent to about $7,750 stamp bags with a street value of $50,000. The crack had a street value of about $700, and the marijuana had a street value of about $2,000, Bower said.
“Preliminarily, the calibers of those firearms have matched the caliber of shell casings collected during the investigations into the reported shootings,” he said.
Three shootings were reported in Brownsville between May 26 and June 3 near Clover Street in Brownsville. Police believe the shootings were connected. The first was alleged attempted homicide of Darrin E. Mackey, 26, of Republic, reported in Snowden Terrace. He was taken to a hospital and released. Police said he refused to cooperate with the investigation.
On June 3, he and Mark Anthony Johnson, 26, of Milwaukee, Wis., allegedly shot Deshawnte A. Bell about 1 a.m. on Green Street. Johnson and Mackey were both arrested and charged with attempted homicide and related charges. Bell was taken to a hospital for treatment.
On June 2, someone allegedly fired shots into a residence in the area about 12:10 p.m.
He said all of the guns were fully loaded and easily accessible to those inside the apartment. They were sent to the state police crime lab for further testing.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Thomas tried to leave the apartment when police arrived, and Michaux and the juvenile tried to hide.
Police also found $20,000 cash, a high-speed money counter, a large amount of ammunition and other paraphernalia, according to the affidavit.
The men are charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and related charges, Bower said. He plans to petition for the teen’s case to be moved from juvenile court to the court of common pleas.
The shootings remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Belle Vernon at 724-929-6262.
