CANONSBURG
Man jailed: Borough police charged David W. Maga, 54, of West College Street Saturday with attempted burglary, loitering and prowling at night, trespassing and disorderly conduct. The charges stem from a report that surveillance cameras at the home of an off-duty police officer recorded Maga allegedly trying to break in through the front door early that morning. Maga is being held in the Washington County jail following arraignment before District Judge Ethan Ward, who set bond at $50,000.
CANTON
Vandalism: State police charged Glenn W. Holden, 29, of Houston, on Friday with criminal mischief. Holden’s ex-wife told police Holden keyed the side of her car outside the KFC/Taco Bell on Cavasina Drive. The incident allegedly occurred Feb. 25 and caused about $1,800 in damage to the vehicle. The charge was filed by summons in District Judge David Mark’s office.
Burglary charges: State police charged three Washington men Friday in connection with with a reported burglary at a Marra Avenue residence that day. Michael D. Wallace III, 19; Devon J. Adams, 18; and Caleb M. McCartney allegedly forced their way into the house through a basement door. All three face charges including burglary of an unoccupied structure. Wallace and Adams are also charged with criminal trespass. All three were arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward, who set bond at $50,000 for each of them.
NORTH CHARLEROI
Assault charge: State police charged Curtis Arnold, 48, of Donora, with simple assault and harassment Monday. Arnold’s wife told police the day before he struck her in the head during an argument in the back seat of a friend’s car near the Charleroi-Monessen Bridge. Arnold maintained the couple had butted heads by accident. Records show Arnold was freed on $15,000 unsecured bond set by District Judge Traci McDonald.
SMITH
Man charged: Zachary Charles Strohmeyer, 31, of 291 Cross Creek Road, Cross Creek Township, is charged by Smith police with possessing a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia stemming from a traffic stop about 11:20 a.m. March 2 at Smith Township State and Spring Valley roads, court records show. District Judge Gary Havelka issued the charges Thursday in a summons.
WASHINGTON
Theft charge: Melanie P. Riggans, 55, of Fayette Street, was arraigned Monday on a theft charge filed by Washington Health System police. Police allege Riggans stole a purse from the room of another patient at the outpatient observation unit in October. Riggans is free on $2,500 unsecured bond set by District Judge Traci McDonald.
