A Canonsburg man was jailed after allegedly assaulting a security guard and threatening to shoot a police officer Friday night.

South Strabane Township police said Eric Danley, a security officer for the Thomas Campbell apartments in South Strabane Township, was checking the parking lot about 9:15 p.m. after hearing reports of a fight.

According to the criminal complaint, Colten Webster, 28, of 541 Euclid Ave., was in the parking lot and ran at Danley, tackled him to the ground and punched him in the jaw. Police said Danley tried to get away to call 911. Webster allegedly tried to chase him, but an unknown man at the scene held Webster back, police said.

Police said Webster fled in a vehicle before crashing it in front of 1761 N. Main St. Police said Webster drove off the road, hit a utility pole, went up an embankment and rolled the vehicle onto the driver’s side. Firefighters had to cut the windshield out in order to get Webster out of the car, police said.

Webster was uninjured in the crash, the complaint said, and refused treatment. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated, but he refused a breath test.

He was transported to the township police station, where he allegedly threatened to shoot one officer and “knock out” another.

Webster was charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and driving under suspension. He was arraigned Saturday by District Judge Ethan Ward and jailed on $50,000 bond.
