CUMBERLAND

Assault charge: George Robert Forsythe II, 30, of 39 Route 88 Mobile Home Park, was charged by Cumberland Township police with simple assault and harassment following a domestic disturbance at his residence Friday afternoon. Police said about 1 p.m., Karrie Frye reported Forsythe locked her out of their home before assaulting her 4-year-old son. Frye told police that Forsythe put his hand on the child’s head and pushed him into the wall, before striking the child in the face and body. Police said Child and Youth Services was called to the scene. Forsythe was arraigned that afternoon by District Judge Lee Watson before posting a $7,500 bond.

Terroristic threats charges: Stephen Stiles, 42, of 510 E. George St., Carmichaels, was charged by Cumberland Township police with three counts of terroristic threats and six counts of disorderly conduct following an incident that happened last week on his street. Police said just after 9 p.m. April 24, Stiles and his wife questioned their neighbors about an injury on their juvenile daughter’s arm. Police said the couple believed it to be a cigarette burn. Police said that after allegedly consuming alcohol, Stiles pounded on his neighbors’ door asking the three of them about his child’s injury. He allegedly yelled at them, “I will kill all of you.”

JEFFERSON

Theft: State police are investigating the theft of $50 from BFS Foods on Route 188 April 21. Police said an unknown woman came into the store about 12:10 a.m. and demanded $50 from the cashier. Police are still investigating.

WHITELEY

Crash: A West Virginia woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 Friday morning. State police said Sheila Rine, 45, of Wellsburg, W.Va., was traveling south about 11:30 a.m. when she crossed over the grass median and struck a northbound car. Rine was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with an injury of unknown severity. Her passenger, Amy Rine, 28, suffered a minor injury, police said, but was not transported. Neither the driver of the northbound vehicle, Joseph Smakosz, 45, of Harmony, nor his passenger, Todd Westwood, 49, of Venetia, was injured, police said.
