MONESSEN – A Monessen man is in custody on accusations he assaulted a city police officer following a disturbance Tuesday.

Kyle Roman Ross, 46, of 710 Sixth St., is facing charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, trespassing, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show.

Police arrested Ross after being called about 5 p.m. to an apartment at 210 Oneida St. for a disturbance involving a man who entered a residence without permission and refused to leave.

An officer found Ross, the accused, outside appearing drunk and belligerent and taking a stance that led Officer William Dennison to believe his safety was at risk, the affidavit indicates.

Ross allegedly resisted being handcuffed, prompting another officer to deploy a Taser on the suspect’s leg, but that weapon proved to be ineffective, court records show.

Ross is further accused of kicking Dennison in the torso during one of many attempt to put him in a police cruiser.

Ross was treated at Mon Valley Hospital for minor injuries he suffered in the scuffle with police before a district judge remanded him to Westmoreland County jail on $3,500 bond.
