Canonsburg man jailed for stealing, damaging vehicle

A Canonsburg man faces charges for allegedly stealing a vehicle and wrecking it into a parked car while under the influence of alcohol Tuesday.
Borough police charged Adam Andrew Snatchko Jr., 23, of 502 Giffin Ave., with felony theft, as well as misdemeanors for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, DUI and summary traffic violations.
According to the criminal complaint, police were notified about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday that a black Dodge Charger on Interstate 79 had driven off the roadway into a ditch, and then back onto the road.
While responding to the call, the owner of the vehicle reported that his cousin, Snatchko, had stolen the car.
Police met the owner, Michael Quinn, at a residence on McNary Avenue. He told police they had been drinking at a home on Alexander Avenue and someone had given his keys to Snatchko so Quinn would not drive home.
Quinn learned that Snatchko had left Alexander Avenue with his vehicle. While Quinn was speaking with police, Snatchko reportedly returned with Quinn’s car, but left again when he learned police were on their way.
Snatchko dropped off the vehicle at Quinn’s Highland Avenue residence with “severe damage” to the front driver side, and passenger side tires that were flat and off the rim, according to the complaint.
Two witnesses told police they saw the Charger crash into a parked vehicle.
When police went to Snatchko’s residence, he allegedly ran out the back door. Police said he initially ignored commands to stop but eventually complied.
Snatchko was incarcerated in Washington County jail and arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Curtis Thompson, who set bond at $15,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. June 11 before District Judge David Mark.
