Police accuse Amati of stealing a lawnmower worth $150 from Jeff Gunia before 8:30 a.m. April 29 and then threatening in a text message to harm the victim for notifying police about the theft. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges Wednesday in summons.

Racist threats: Ryan Michael Stumpf, 33, of 30 Gladden Road, McDonald, was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and terroristic threats by township police Wednesday. According to the criminal complaint, about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Stumpf pulled up next to another driver on Interstate 70 and shouted, “You’re going to die,” followed by a racial slur. He also allegedly pointed a .22-caliber handgun at the other driver. Police said they found the gun in the center console of Stumpf’s vehicle, and learned that he does not have a concealed carry permit. Stumpf was released from Washington County jail after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 monetary bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 22 before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
